1. Agreement to Terms
By accessing or using WhatTheBOM (the "Tool"), you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms of Service (the "Terms"). If you do not agree with any part of these Terms, you must immediately stop using the Tool. Your continued use of the Tool constitutes your ongoing acceptance of these Terms as they may be amended from time to time.
2. Description of Service
WhatTheBOM is a free, client-side productivity and organization tool aimed at business office managers and other related positions. It provides repeating task tracking, to-do lists, and other utilities. All data is processed and stored entirely on your own device using your browser's local storage (IndexedDB). No data is transmitted to, stored on, or accessible by any external server. The Tool is not a hosted service, and no account is created on any remote system.
3. User Responsibilities
- Use the Tool only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms.
- Not attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, or otherwise derive the source code of the Tool, except to the extent expressly permitted by applicable law.
- Not use the Tool to store, process, or transmit any content that infringes upon the rights of any third party.
- Not attempt to circumvent, disable, or interfere with any security features of the Tool.
- Maintain the confidentiality of your credentials and accept full responsibility for all activity that occurs under them.
- Maintain your own backups of any data entered into the Tool.
4. Data and Storage
- Browser data eviction or storage quota limits.
- Manually clearing site data, cookies, or browsing history.
- Device failure, theft, or damage.
- Browser bugs, updates, or changes to storage policies.
- Use of unsupported browsers (Safari is not supported and may cause data loss due to aggressive storage eviction).
- Operating system or third-party software interference.
- Any other cause beyond the control of the Tool's creator.
5. Encryption and Security
- This encryption is not a guarantee of compliance with any regulatory framework, including but not limited to HIPAA, GDPR, SOC 2, or any other data protection regulation.
- No guarantee is made that the encryption implementation is free of vulnerabilities, defects, or errors.
- You are solely responsible for evaluating whether the Tool meets your organization's security, privacy, and compliance requirements.
- If you lose or forget your credentials, your data cannot be recovered. The Tool has no password reset, recovery mechanism, or backdoor of any kind.
- The security of your data also depends on factors outside the Tool's control, including your device security, browser security, and network environment.
6. Disclaimer of Warranties
- Merchantability.
- Fitness for a particular purpose.
- Non-infringement.
- Accuracy, reliability, or completeness of any content or data.
- Uninterrupted, timely, secure, or error-free operation.
- That any data entered will be preserved, retained, or recoverable.
- That the Tool will meet your requirements or expectations.
7. Limitation of Liability
- Direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or exemplary damages.
- Loss of data, data corruption, or unauthorized access to data.
- Business interruption, lost profits, or lost revenue.
- Loss of goodwill or reputation.
- Cost of procurement of substitute goods or services.
- Any other pecuniary or non-pecuniary loss.
8. Indemnification
- Your use or misuse of the Tool.
- Your violation of these Terms.
- Your violation of any applicable law or regulation.
- Any content or data you enter into the Tool.
- Any claim by a third party related to your use of the Tool.
9. No Professional Advice
The Tool is a productivity and organizational aid only. Nothing provided by the Tool constitutes financial, legal, medical, tax, accounting, or other professional advice. You should not rely on the Tool as your sole system of record for anything with legal, regulatory, financial, or compliance implications. Always consult a qualified professional for matters requiring professional judgment.
10. Help Resources and Crisis Information
- The Help Resources are provided for general informational purposes only. They do not constitute crisis intervention, counseling, therapy, medical advice, legal advice, or any other form of professional service or recommendation.
- The creator is not a licensed counselor, therapist, social worker, medical professional, or legal professional, and does not operate a crisis service, referral service, or helpline of any kind.
- No professional-client, counselor-patient, or fiduciary relationship of any kind is created between you and the creator by your use of the Help Resources.
- The Help Resources are compiled from publicly available information and are provided on an "as is" basis. The creator makes no representation or warranty, express or implied, regarding the accuracy, completeness, timeliness, reliability, availability, or suitability of any listed organization, phone number, URL, description, or contact method.
- Phone numbers, URLs, service hours, eligibility requirements, and organizational policies may change at any time without notice. The creator has no obligation to monitor, verify, or update the Help Resources and assumes no duty to do so.
- The inclusion of any organization in the Help Resources does not constitute an endorsement, recommendation, referral, or guarantee of the quality, safety, effectiveness, or appropriateness of that organization's services.
- The creator has no affiliation with, control over, or responsibility for any listed organization. The creator is not liable for any act, omission, advice, treatment, service, or conduct of any listed organization or its agents.

- Descriptions and contact instructions may be provided in translated form as a convenience. Translations are provided on a best-effort basis and may contain errors or imprecisions. The creator is not responsible for any misunderstanding, miscommunication, or harm arising from translation inaccuracies.
- The Tool includes a "clear" or "panic" feature intended to quickly hide the Help Resources section from view. This feature is provided as a convenience and best-effort safety measure. The creator makes no guarantee that this feature will function correctly in all circumstances, on all devices, or in all browsers, and is not responsible for any consequence arising from its failure to operate as intended, including but not limited to the exposure of on-screen content to third parties.
- Contacting any listed organization by phone, text, or web may leave traces on your device, in your browser history, in your call or message logs, or in your network records. The creator is not responsible for any consequence arising from such traces, including but not limited to discovery by third parties.
- The creator shall not be liable for any damages, injuries, losses, or consequences of any kind, whether direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or otherwise, arising out of or in connection with your use of, reliance on, or inability to use the Help Resources, including but not limited to any decision made or action taken based on information in the Help Resources.
11. Intellectual Property
- Copy, modify, or create derivative works of the Tool for distribution without permission.
- Remove, alter, or obscure any proprietary notices or labels.
- Use the Tool's name, branding, or visual identity to imply endorsement or affiliation.
12. Third-Party Services
The Tool may interact with third-party services, including but not limited to browser APIs, payment platforms (for voluntary contributions), and file system interfaces. The Tool is not responsible for the availability, accuracy, security, or practices of any third-party service. Your use of any third-party service is subject to that service's own terms and privacy policy. The inclusion of any link or integration does not imply endorsement.
13. Voluntary Contributions
- Contributions are entirely voluntary and are not required to access or use any feature of the Tool.
- Each contribution constitutes a non-refundable, irrevocable gift.
- Contributions do not entitle you to any additional features, priority support, service-level guarantees, influence over development decisions, or any other consideration whatsoever.
- Contributions do not alter the "as is" nature of the Tool or any other provision of these Terms.
- The Tool is not a registered nonprofit or charitable organization, and contributions are not tax-deductible charitable donations.
- You are making the contribution of your own free will with no expectation of anything in return.
14. Modifications and Availability
- Modify, update, or replace any part of the Tool or its features.
- Suspend or discontinue the Tool, temporarily or permanently.
- Change, amend, or replace these Terms.
15. Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Texas, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-law provisions. Any legal action or proceeding arising under these Terms shall be brought exclusively in the courts located in the State of Texas, and you consent to the personal jurisdiction of such courts.
16. Language
These Terms are provided in English and Spanish for convenience. The English version is the sole authoritative version of this agreement. The Spanish translation may contain errors or imprecisions. In the event of any discrepancy between the English version and the Spanish translation, the English version shall prevail.
17. Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid, unlawful, or unenforceable by a court of competent jurisdiction, that provision shall be modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it enforceable, or severed if modification is not possible. All remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect.
18. Waiver
The failure of the creator to enforce any right or provision of these Terms shall not constitute a waiver of such right or provision. Any waiver of any provision of these Terms shall be effective only if in writing and signed by the creator.
19. Entire Agreement
These Terms constitute the entire agreement between you and the creator regarding the use of the Tool, and supersede all prior and contemporaneous understandings, agreements, representations, and warranties, both written and oral, regarding the Tool.
